Sundance Channel Greenlights David de Rothschild Eco Series
August 10, 2008
You’ll soon be able to watch EarthFirst.com’s #1 Hottest Guy in Green, David de Rothschild, on the Sundance Channel! The network has greenlighted de Rothschild’s series, “Eco-Trip: The Real Cost of Living”. The 8-part series will premiere in 2009, and will trace the origins and environmental impact of common everyday objects such as a cotton t-shirt or a gold ring.
Each 30-minute episode will trace the ‘eco-life’ of objects from cell phones to bottles of water from production to disposal, revealing the environmental, social and health effects along the way. The series aims to educate viewers on the decisions they can make to live a greener lifestyle. It reflects the Sundance Channel’s growing dedication to creating entertaining and enlightening eco-programming. (You should be watching out, also, for Josh Dorfman’s television debut of The Lazy Environmentalist!)
As soon as we get the exact debut date for Eco-Trip: The Real Cost of Living, we’ll let you know so you can check it out!

Isabella Rossellini in a Green Porno? Yep, But it’s Not What You Think
May 6, 2008
If you’ve got fetishes for voluptuous Italian actresses and – um – animal sex, Isabella Rossellini’s latest project is right up your very weird alley. The renowned beauty has teamed up with the Sundance Channel to produce a series of short films entitled ‘Green Porno’, and sadly for most of her fans it doesn’t involve anything most normal people would find sexy.
Ecorazzi has it:
In Green Porno Rossellini dresses in a series of different costumes and impersonates various small creatures getting their groove on. I know it’s a lot to take in so let’s talk through it for a sec. So picture Rossellini…ok got it? Now picture Rossellini flapping her “wings” in…say a bee costume. Now picture Rossellini flapping her “wings” in a bee costume and mating with a cardboard cut out of another bee while her son and his friends play background male bees in the “hive”. No, I’m serious!
Rossellini isn’t just the star – she conceived, scripted and directed the films as well. She said that she’s always had a big interest in animals and thinks that since people are interested in sex, they’ll be interested in the sex lives of bugs. The films are so tame, according to her, that she feels it’s perfectly okay for her son and his friends to star as some of the bees.
Well, she was in Blue Velvet. Costumed animal sex in a series of films entitled ‘Green Porno’ seems like it could very well have come from the mind of David Lynch, so, perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised.

Hulu Opens to the Public with Three Green Video Shows
March 19, 2008
Hulu is new ‘watch TV online’ site that just opened up to the public a few weeks ago. I’ve been catching episodes of The Office, Battlestar Galactica, and Lipstick Jungle (what can I say, I like Brooke Sheilds) and just stumbled on a little cache of green videos there the other day.
The Sundance Channel has licensed a few green series to the site:

Ecoists has short 1:12 clips of different environmental activists and celebrities sharing their ideas for building a green world. The obvious ones are there- Woody Harrelson, Ed Begley Jr, and Daryl Hannah - but people like Ted Danson, Morgan Freeman, Ben Harper, and Moby also chime in.

Greenimation has short animated films that frankly aren’t all that funny or well animated.

Eco Biz has three minute profiles of eco entrepreneurs and companies like Ben & Jerry’s, Terra Pass, Ed Kerschner, and Stoller Vineyard. These are pretty good with a cute host (Alison Stewart) and good production values.
