As our Engineer, Mechanical Systems you will be a part of Vestas Americas Technology Group, and provide mechanical engineering expertise in support of sales, service, installation and product development of wind turbines.

Responsibilities and Tasks

As part of Vestas Americas Technology Group, provide mechanical engineering expertise in support of sales, service, installation and product development of wind turbines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Completes continuous improvement projects to analyze and resolve field failures of mechanical systems/components for wind turbine generators. Includes root cause analysis, development of immediate corrective actions, design of permanent solution and implementation.
  • Respond to technical inquiries from service personnel, project managers, and outside customers.
  • Provides required engineering support during and after the installation of wind turbines
  • Conducts studies to assess failure modes and effects and develop time to failure models.
  • Prepares and maintains necessary drawings, specifications, and documents for project installations, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Coordinates/participates with Vestas Research & Development in Denmark as required for ongoing product development and reliability projects.
  • Utilizes mechanical engineering expertise and knowledge of wind turbine systems to provide technical support of sales.
  • Provides ongoing technical support for in-service wind turbines as needed.
  • Solid field and manufacturing trouble shooting skills

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Minimum of 5 years experience with industrial mechanical components and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience or strong familiarity with root cause analysis for mechanical system failures required.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills required.
  • Project management or other relative leadership experience.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, and/or ProE. Strong computer skills in all MS Office software.
  • Six Sigma and reliability engineering experience preferred

Overall Function: The Senior Conservation Project Manager will be an integral member of Environmental Defense’s Oceans Program working in a multi-disciplinary setting to formulate and implement strategies to promote market-based marine conservation tools and management reforms. The successful candidate will have the requisite experience and discretion to be a front-line leader and representative of the Oceans Program, to make independent decisions regarding priorities and specific actions to be taken, in the context of the organization’s overall goals and in consultation with other Environmental Defense staff members. The job requires working with a variety of concerned parties, including government, private industry, grassroots organizations, and others to achieve measurable environmental results.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, execute and manage strategies for fisheries reform efforts in the Chesapeake Bay and other areas that involve complex public policy processes and multiple stakeholders.
  • Manage and provide strategic guidance to program staff and oversee implementation of multiple projects for fisheries reform.
  • Build, develop, and grow strategic coalitions and other relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Guide and conduct outreach to promote adoption of catch shares and other fisheries conservation strategies.
  • Monitor ongoing activities related to fisheries conservation; track news and information related to fisheries reform; communicate key events to other Environmental Defense staff; help decide in which activities to actively participate; and identify new strategic opportunities.
  • Develop and take lead in the implementation of communications and advocacy strategies, including serving as a spokesperson on fishery issues.
  • Take a lead role in fundraising for projects in region.
  • Represent Environmental Defense in meetings and on relevant committees.
  • Developing and supporting an active grass-tops base.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Eight or more years relevant work experience in fisheries or natural resources policy, management, or related field; with particular emphasis on managing complex policy, regulatory, or legislative processes.
  • Familiar with conservation issues related to fisheries.
  • Possess strong strategic thinking, organizational, management and people skills, be a self-starter, but able to work closely with directors and other staff.
  • Excellent written and public communications skills, experience working with the media, good computer skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Master’s degree preferred in natural resources management, environmental or public policy, or related field.
  • Willingness to travel.

Term: This is a three-year term position.

Greenpeace is seeking a digital marketing specialist in Washington, D.C. Reporting to the Director of Online Communications, this position is responsible for developing and implementing a marketing strategy to grow Greenpeace’s overall online presence, our email list, and our web site traffic. This includes search engine marketing (SEM), search engine optimization (SEO), banner advertising, social news and networking sites, and viral and guerilla marketing.

The successful candidate will combine best practices with creative strategies to promote Greenpeace campaigns and market the Greenpeace brand. The ability to work under tight deadlines, work well under pressure and handle multiple projects at once is required.

Responsiblities:

  • Develop short and long term online marketing strategies for the organization and campaigns
  • Research and implement web-based marketing activities including blogs/comments, banner advertising, social networking, search engine marketing, search engine optimization, viral marketing, and list buys.
  • Implement guerilla marketing efforts through like-minded community sites and social news sites to promote our stories, blogs, videos, and actions.
  • Develop strategies to enlist Greenpeace supporters in marketing efforts (Digg, voting, polls, banners/badges, tell-a-friend, blog comments, etc).
  • Tailor specific marketing pushes to strategic target audiences/demographics as needed by individual campaigns.
  • Create and optimize landing pages for SEM and viral marketing pushes.
  • Work closely with the Online PR Officer and Online Community Organizer to coordinate major outreach pushes. Ensure consistent messaging and well-timed pushes across online channels.
  • Work closely with the Online Fundraiser to promote fundraising drives.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns on web site traffic and list growth and ROI by source.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Online Communications.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience in online advertising and marketing, specifically including expertise in search and other paid strategies to grow e-mail lists.
  • Solid understanding of Google Web Optimizer and Google Analytics.
  • Experience implementing viral and guerilla marketing campaigns.
  • Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and analysis skills, combined with good business judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be both strategic and hands-on with solid experience in successful project management.
  • Must have a commitment to Greenpeace’s mission.
  • Advocacy and campaigning experience a plus.

ACORE’s Internet presence is vital to our mission of bringing all forms of renewable energy into the mainstream of American economy and lifestyle.  Our Internet Marketing and Communications Associate is responsible for executing the day to day operation of our internet based marketing and communication systems.  This includes a content management system, customer relationship management (CRM), e-commerce, event registration and management, and executing ACORE communications and interaction with members and interested groups.

Specific Duties

  • Develop and execute our email marketing campaigns for all conferences and events.  (Five conferences, webinars, etc.)
  • Layout and distribute our Monthly member update
  • Set up and manage the technical aspects of event registration (Cvent)
  • Run our social networking system (Intronetworks) that is attached to our conferences.
  • Maintain current website information (Joomla and Drupal) for each event site and www.acore.org
  • Run search marketing campaign for our events with Google Adwords
  • Manage online Board of Directors elections (Votenet)
  • Work with and manage relationships of our web development contractors (Wakefly, ABG)
  • Manage transcription of all events and conference speeches and upload to our website

Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred or Webmaster certification
  • 3-5 years of website administration and database maintenance experience
  • Demonstrated ability to design, create and maintain web pages
  • Experience with content management systems, database integration online, online communications, social networking applications, and current programming technologies such as Vtrends, Cvent, Intronetworks, Joomla, Drupal, Google Adwords, Grantstation, Votenet, Wakefly.
  • Technical experience with website languages such as HTML, XML, CSS, SQL queries, accessing server-side functions using PHP and mySQL protocols and photo technology such as Photoshop
  • Experience with graphic applications
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports

The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) is seeking a Nuclear Energy and Climate Change Project Manager to provide information to the public, policy-makers, and media on nuclear power in the context of climate change. Candidates must have a solid background in energy technologies and policies, and comfort with nuclear economics. UCS is a leading science-based nonprofit organization working for a healthy planet and a safer world, with a membership and activist base of more than 100,000, a staff of over 100, and offices in Cambridge (MA), Washington (DC), Berkeley (CA), and Chicago (IL).

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Clean Energy Program Director, the Project Manager will:

Develop and manage an education campaign on nuclear power in the context of climate change. The campaign will highlight issues of comparative energy economics, public subsidies, and safety and security issues with current and advanced reactor designs.
Develop position papers, fact sheets, presentations, talking points, web copy and other products for use in communication, educational, advocacy and outreach activities.
Work with in-house analysts and manage consultants on energy economic analyses.
Serve as UCS staff spokesperson on nuclear power issues, working proactively with media staff to engage broadcast and print media.

Work with UCS lobbyists to help educate members of Congress and the administration, governors, federal agency and regulatory leaders and their staffs about UCS positions, and help advance UCS’s legislative agenda.
Work with UCS Global Security Program analysts and advocates to advance goals of nuclear safety and security.
Participate in stakeholder dialogues and engagements.

Qualifications: Position requires broad knowledge of the energy sector and relevant technologies and policies, and working knowledge of nuclear economics. Ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of at least one key nuclear policy issue—nuclear economics, safety, security, or waste, generally acquired through completion of an advanced degree. Familiarity with climate change and national and international security policy is helpful. Must have demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences (including media, policymakers, scientists, engineers, and other experts) about complex scientific, technical and economic issues. Must have leadership skills and demonstrated ability to build consensus and agreement, and to manage complex collaborative projects.

Experience:
Requires 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in energy technology/economics and two or more years of experience in pubic policy. Additionally, 3-5 years experience in managing complex projects, including planning and successful implementation to achieve measurable results.

Experience with wind turbine technology and pro forma model review are also desired. Excellent oral/written communication skills and computer skills required. The ability to write clear and accurate reports is essential.

Position Overview:

The Center for Clean Air Policy in Washington, DC is seeking a Transportation and Climate Policy Analyst.  The Center for Clean Air Policy has been a leader for over two decades in the global climate change policy arena, and is currently growing as awareness of climate change spreads across the country.  CCAP is renowned for its analytical and consensus building leadership.  The new climate policy analyst will join the team working on effective policy making solutions through CCAP’s policy programs.

ABOUT THE TRANSPORTATION & CLIMATE POLICY ANALYST

The Policy Analyst will apply research and analytical skills to the development of transportation and climate change policy. The ideal candidate will bring at least four years of relevant experience and an ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders to craft practical policy solutions. Knowledge of smart growth, travel demand management and vehicle miles traveled (VMT) is required, but is only relevant if it comes with the capacity and humility to explain the issues in clear and compelling terms.

While this position will initially focus on supporting the VMT & Climate Policy dialogue and associated issues, transportation and climate change is an area development for CCAP. Expansion will likely come in the form of technical assistance and training about smart growth policies for states and municipalities. While the role will have a diverse set of tasks, examples include quantitative analysis on GHG reduction, research on federal climate and transportation legislation and policy, technical and policy assistance to governments, economic analysis of smart growth policies, assessment of data improvement needs, and development of performance metrics. This position affords tremendous opportunity to participate in the development of cutting edge climate change policy work.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an articulate professional with sophistication, intelligence, drive and experience in environmental policy;
  • Preferably hold a Master’s degree in Transportation Planning, Public Policy or a related field and have substantive knowledge of transportation policy and planning processes;
  • Have superb quantitative skills and the ability to understand and articulate sophisticated technical, policy and economic analysis;
  • Have demonstrated project management skills and the capacity to synthesize complex materials; and
  • Be able to analyze data and communicate concepts to myriad audiences.
