Carrotmob ‘Makes it Rain’ Money at Greenest Local Liquor Store

July 18, 2008

Carrotmob, a new environmental advocacy group, decided to use one important fact to our advantage: the fact that corporations will do ANYTHING to make money. The premise? Everyone needs to buy stuff. But we don’t do it in an organized way. If everyone who needed to buy the same type of item got together and pooled their money, we’d have a lot of leverage against the companies that sell those items. Watch the video below to see what happened when Carrotmob pulled a big crowd together to spend a lot of money at the local liquor store that made the strongest environmental commitment.

EarthFirst Blog Week in Review March 24-28

April 3, 2008

Pub note: We’re a little late posting this, April Fools Day got us all spun around, what can we say.

Last week was just another freak show around here at Earth First. We came down with our own little bout of March Madness and covered all kinds of crazy shit from an insanely talented elephant to veggie-friendly strippers to Britney Spears actually doing something productive and positive! Mr. Cranky Green bitched and moaned about the pointlessness of EarthHour and then stuck it to those dirty, silly hippies by ratcheting up his energy use that hour. We bet he’s pumped for Energy Wasting Day. Have a great week and remember that mother earth comes first. And she likes being on top.
