Care2, the online source of info for all things green, is seeking a versatile Software Engineer to join their campaign team based in Redwood City, California. Reporting to the Senior Director of Nonprofit Advocacy, the Software Engineer will help to implement Care2’s online campaigns for a wide range of leading environmental, animal welfare, and progressive organizations.
The Engineer will extend the capabilities of Care2’s online campaigning and email marketing tools and develop custom solutions for unique campaigns. He/she will also work closely with Care2’s product development teams.
The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, can translate campaigning needs into technical requirements, is comfortable balancing competing deadlines and demands, has solid analytical skills, and is passionate about the environment, politics and progressive causes. The candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced and fast-changing environment, and is committed to delivering high quality products and hitting deadlines.
Qualifications:
2-3 Years experience with PHP in a LAMP environment. PHP 5 a plus.
Understanding of SQL and work with MySQL.
Competence with OO design methodologies.
Familiarity with HTML, XHTML and JavaScript
2-3 years experience with version control (CVS, SVN, Git)
Understanding of SMTP and email distribution
Motivated self-starter able to deal with multiple concurrent projects
Provide reliable and realistic estimates of time
Interact with business and technical stakeholders to determine requirements
Passionate advocate for quality.
At least a college degree; Computer Science or Software Engineering preferred.
