Position Overview:

The Senior Communications Coordinator leads the strategic development and execution of PECI public relations outreach and publicity and is the key content originator and copywriter for PECI-specific marketing materials, public relations efforts and energy industry client program materials. Working closely with the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager, the Marketing Services team and the program teams, this position will produce press releases, news announcements, feature articles, company statements and publicity copy with responsibility for distribution and placement through highly-maintained industry and media relationships.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities entail copywriting, copy-editing and content re-purposing for a variety of PECI-specific and client-specific program needs including collateral development, press releases, web copy, advertisements, promotional campaigns, presentations, presentation abstracts and internal communications.  This position will also serve as the employee portal editor and will publish company highlights, news and information within the web 2.0 software platform.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic development and execution of PECI public relations outreach and publicity
  • Collaborate with program teams in developing plans and strategies for publicity and marketing materials, from conception to implementation
  • Copywriting, copy-editing and content re-purposing for a variety of marketing and publicity materials
  • Serve as the employee portal editor to write and publish company news, highlights and information

Qualifications:

Candidates must have at least 3 years experience in public relations, journalism, communications or marketing, with proven copywriting skills a must. Proposal writing experience and industry/media contacts preferred. Experience working with multiple stakeholders is required. Industry background in energy, sustainability, building science or environmental programs is a plus.

The ideal candidate will have a nose for news and opportunity with proven success in attaining publicity placements and visibility. They’ll be relationship-based, results-driven and able to produce stellar copy in a moment’s notice. Strong strategic thinking, high productivity, and organizational skills are a must. Successful candidates will be able to work in a fast-paced environment, are innovative, creative, highly organized, detail- and solution-oriented and team-focused.

Skills:

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in public relations, journalism, communications or marketing
  • Ability to think and communicate creatively and strategically
  • Excellent copywriting and editing skills
  • Strong leadership, communication and persuasion skills
  • Exceptional rapport-building and relationship-management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, with energy and enthusiasm
  • Flexible to work with a variety of staff meeting dynamic project demands
