I have been biking for 20 years and great distances. The last of the long rides was on 7/2/2008, when I biked to Hollister, 100 km one-way. I have biked to San Francisco 21 times, about 70 km one-way. Even longer rides are being planned, such as the AIDS LifeCycle, which beging in San Francisco and ends in Los Angeles. This would be my fifth ride outside the San Francisco Bay Area, and the first outside Northern California.

I've been waiting for $7-10 per gallon gas for some time now. We should probably already be paying that much. Europe has been paying similar prices per liter in euros as we pay in dollars per gallon. For those of us keeping score thats 5.9 times higher than what we pay. No wonder all the really fuel efficient cars are only available in Europe. :-(

I have a small car, and it took $60 to fill yesterday. It was hilarious. I grin like a madman at the pump, as I look around at the huge quad-cab trucks and escalades around me. I've decided that the next car I buy is electric. This one will last me until I can get that Tesla... yes....

mmm.... Tesla.....

Wow. $7 is a lot. But more than cars, the prices of everything that need to be trucked will go up. I am afraid we are entering hard times all around.
