David de Rothschild’s ‘Plastiki’ About to Set Sail

March 10, 2009 · Print This Article

David de Rothschild and a crew of scientists will be traveling 12,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean on the Plastiki, a boat made entirely from plastic bottles and recycled waste products. The Plastiki will set sail in April and travel through the Eastern Pacific Garbage Patch, a mess of floating plastic twice the size of Texas located halfway between California and Hawaii.

From Green Upgrader:

“It is our aim to captivate, inspire and activate tomorrow’s environmental thinkers and doers to take positive action for our Planet and to be smart with waste, ultimately we hope to inspire people to rethink waste as a valuable resource. One person’s waste could be another person’s treasure.”

And how green is the boat? Their craft is a catamaran made from 20,000 plastic bottles injected with CO2 packed it into pontoons. The pontoons are strapped to a rigid plastic tube running the length of the hull, and they’ve assembled the whole thing without glues or resins, so when the trip is over, the entire boat is recyclable.

De Rothschild, who was EarthFirst’s #1 Hottest Guy in Green, is a British adventurer, environmental activist and founder of Adventure Ecology, an expedition and education group that raises awareness about climate change and environmental issues.

Good luck and have a safe voyage, I have only just read about your venture and look forward with interest to following your journey. I know there are other people doing events to raise awareness to the state of the planet, but without high profile events such as this most of the worlds population would remain in ignorence to the level of damage we are doing to the planet. for example until about an hour ago I had never heard of the “Great Pacific Gabage Patch” it was only when reading about this venture that I became aware ot if.

Rothschild could care less about the earth. The whole global warming scam is about creating a new revenue stream, via a global carbon tax, for these elitist families and also to make humanity the enemy. Read the “The First Global Revolution” by the Club of Rome (think tank). In it you will discover the truth behind the climate change lie:

“It would seem that men and women need a common motivation, namely a common adversary, to organize and act together in the vacuum such as motivation seemed to have ceased to exist or have yet to be found. The need for enemies seems to be a common historical factor…Bring the divided nation together to face an outside enemy, either a real one or else one INVENTED for the purpose…

Democracy will be made to seem responsible for the lagging economy, the scarcity and uncertainties. The very concept of democracy could then be brought into question and allow for the seizure of power.

In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. The real enemy then is humanity itself.”
    - “The First Global Revolution” (1991) published by the Club of Rome.

    Screw you Roth’s child.

Got something to say?
