The measures that the government is going to present a nice image of the city isn't going to help. The Olympics has publicised the poor air quality of the city and done far more damage than a few weeks of sunshine will heal. Even worse, these few weeks of sunshine are going to take a serious toll on the city. All construction projects have been halted. If you've ever been to Beijing, you know that's a lot of work. Millions of people are now without work amid soaring prices in light of the tourist invasion. The Olympics is going to be a catastrophe or Beijing.
