It's missing the pearls of wisdom from Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas). Going to sit in the shade is one solution to global warming:

> When it rains, we find shelter. When it’s hot, we get shade. When it’s cold, we find a warm place to stay.

And he's done some deep thinking on the issue of wind:

> Wind is God’s way of balancing heat. Wind is the way you shift heat from areas where it’s hotter to areas where it’s cooler. That’s what wind is. Wouldn’t it be ironic if in the interest of global warming we mandated massive switches to energy, which is a finite resource, which slows the winds down, which causes the temperature to go up? Now, I’m not saying that’s going to happen, Mr. Chairman, but that is definitely something on the massive scale. I mean, it does make some sense. You stop something, you can’t transfer that heat, and the heat goes up. It’s just something to think about.

"It's such a fine line between stupid and clever." - David St. Hubbins

Wow... to think I was a republican at one time.
I still may go back, but never to the non-thinking side.
This was a great post!

Entertaining post. XD I don't mind the political slant because, unlike a certain cable channel, you don't pretend to be totally neutral.

The (for lack of a more eloquent word) dumbness of these people, while funny, brings to light a serious problem. The people running our country and making decisions that involve science are completely ignorant of science. Unfortunately, there are a number of Democrats who do not fully understand the urgency of climate change.

I have no explanation for Joe Barton's comments. However, Glenn Beck's statements really bother me. I hope he was joking; he sounds like a parody of himself, but it still annoys me.

Youth that support the green movement have not been indoctrinated. We have not been brainwashed. We have not been coerced. We simply care, as opposed to being apathetic, which people like to criticize us for.

It's not so much that the current generation knows more than previous generations. It's more that we (or at least some of us) choose not to ignore what we know and pretend that the world's social and environmental problems don't exist. Instead, we try to make a difference.

Of course, there are "old people" who care and young people who don't, but caring doesn't make anyone a Nazi.

Many of these statements are mindnumbingly dumb.
But, as a responsible liberal myself, statements like your first sentence annoy the hell out of me. That they "...still insist that global warming ... isn’t caused by man" is a position maintained by people on both sides of the political debate.

Warming as a direct consequence of human activity ONLY, or showing human activity as the major factor influencing CURRENT warming, has NOT been proven.

Endless mudslinging based on political agenda is irresponsible and contributes nothing good to the study of climate change and its possible implications.
